Another member of the "greatest generation" and the Matriarch of her family has passed away.
Our Mom (Patty) was a proud Mother, Wife, Great Grandmother, Grandma, Aunt, and friend who found peace and rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14,2024 surrounded by her family. Mom was born on July 17,1929 in Tacoma and was raised in National (near Mt. Tacoma as she called Mt. Rainier) until she was six years old when her family moved to Tacoma in 1935.Once she moved to Tacoma, she never left her City of Destiny. Mom was a huge advocate for the City of Tacoma throughout her life and insisted that Seattle was "just a city north of Tacoma". Mom attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947 and three years later she married her one true love Dean M. Pitsch Sr. in May of 1950.She moved to San Diego for a time while Dean Sr. fulfilled his US Navy assignment. She had a special love for San Diego.
Mom worked in retail for Safeway and other small retail stores for a limited time until she became a homemaker as her full-time job. She was an avid bowler, having bowled for over 40 years in various leagues and tournaments as well as being the biggest fan of any sport her children or her grandchildren were participating in. Mom loved to travel, attending many jazz festivals with her husband, attending concerts, dancing, enjoying the many seasons at both the Pantages and Tacoma Little Theater, taking trips to her beloved Ireland and spending time at Clear Lake where she began visiting as a very young child. She would tell anyone who asked her that her greatest accomplishment was her wonderful children and grandchildren whom she was so proud of and loved dearly. Mom was a proud life-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in all the Church's committees, clubs and activities including "Hot Dog Thursday".
Our Mom leaves behind to mourn and miss her - children: Kelli, Karen (Chuck), Dean Jr. (Cindy), Danny (Linda), Julie (Lloyd) as well as 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Sr., son Patrick, brother Virgil, sisters Winifred and Margaret. Many thanks to the special people at Silver Creek Retirement I Assisted Living for their kindness, love, and caring support for our Mom. Services will begin with The Rosary on Thursday, April 4th at 10:30AM with funeral mass following at 11AM at Sacred Heart Church, 4520 McKinley Avenue in Tacoma.
If you choose, donations may be made in Mom's name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Sacred Heart Church.
