Obituary Olive "Tootsie" died Tuesday at Garden Terrace Nursing Home after suffering a sacrum and hip fracture. Olive was born in Walcott, ND and her family moved to Big Fork, MT when she was two years old. She graduated from Kalispell High School at the age of sixteen. She attended Normal School in Cheney, WA to become a school teacher and then taught in a one-room school house in Montana for several years. In the early 1950's, she moved to Seattle, WA and worked as a retail clerk for Frederick and Nelson. She later worked for John Maloney, an architectural firm, doing clerical work. In 1954 she married the love of her life, Joseph Tencich and moved to Tacoma where she and Joe owned and operated the Western Auto Store in the Proctor district. After selling the store, she went to work for Rhodes Dept. Store in Tacoma. She was a gifted homemaker and loved to do crossword puzzles, needlework and play cards. She was a beautiful and gentle lady. Tootsie is survived by her sister, Gordyce Durocher, Seattle; sisters-in-law, Mary Gardener, Tacoma, Florence Slethaug, MT and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Funeral and committal services will be Saturday, June 18, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Cloisters Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
