Nevella Wanda Lemagie

January 7, 1919 — March 13, 2007

Obituary Nevella left us on Monday, March 12th. She was born on a small farm near Morton, WA January 7, 1919 to Donna and Clarence Ross. The family moved to Tacoma and settled in the McKinley Hill area in the 1920's. Dolly; as she was known, attended Lincoln High School and Pacific Lutheran College, now PLU, graduating in 1938 with a degree in education. She went on to teach in the Puyallup School District. On June 1st, 1945, Dolly married Richard H. Lemagie, a high school classmate with whom she had been corresponding during the war, now a naval submarine officer stationed in the Pacific. Following the war, Dick and Dolly settled in Tacoma and raised their family. In the mid sixties, Dolly went back to teaching and helped organize the local Head Start Program for the Tacoma School District where she taught for many more years. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Melba of Lewis Co., and her husband Richard who passed away just seven weeks ago. She is survived by her son, Pat (Lynne) of Tacoma, Colleen LeMagie of Shell, WY, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dick and Dolly both retired in their mid fifties and spent many wonderful years cruising their 42 Grand Banks, "Bon Homme Richard" on Puget Sound, Canadian, and Alaskan waters frequently traveling for five months at a time. Dolly was a long time member of the Day Island Yacht Club and for many years acted as the club's historian. She was also an avid writer and recorded many stories of their travels as well as a family history of the Ross and Roberts families back to the mid-nineteenth century. Together, Dick and Dolly spent more than 61 happy years together. The family would like to particularly thank the staff at the Weatherly Inn, Bristol Court Dementia Care for their wonderful attention to Mom's comfort during the past several years. A special thank you and a hug for Brenda who truly gave that extra bit of love that only comes from a caring nurse. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Haven of Rest. Internment Haven of Rest.
