Michael Ernest Johnson was born in Astoria, Oregon on January 23, 1955 to his parents, Alvin (Bud) and Dorothy. He passed away suddenly on February 2, 2021 in Tacoma, Washington.
Mike graduated from George R. Curtis High School, class of 1973. He met Linda McNeil and they were married on October 18, 1980. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. Mike worked for First Presbyterian Church and School for the last 11 years. Affectionately known as Mr. Mike, he quickly made a name for himself and was widely loved.
Mike had a vast knowledge and was always willing and eager to help others when projects arose. It is important to understand that being a great community member was Mike’s biggest hobby. From hanging ceiling fans, to cleaning up parks, to volunteering for church events, he was always there with a welcoming attitude and one of his classic one liners/dad jokes. Mike enjoyed coaching soccer, baseball, basketball, lacrosse and volleyball in the Fircrest and St. Charles community, hardly missing a season since he first started in 1989.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bud and Dorothy, in-laws Jerry and Gloria McNeil, sister-in-law Rita and grandson Malcolm. He is survived by his wife Linda, mother-in-law
Maureen McNeil, brothers Alvin (Peggy) and Mark, sister-in-law’s Karen (Bob), Nancy (Pete), Debbie, and brother-in-law’s Mike (Shelley), David (Melissa). 8 children Crystal, Britni, Hanna (Keaton), Gerad (Ciara), Rory (Katrina), Bryce (Sofia), Lucas and Sander. 13 grandchildren Alex (Trista), Alyssa, Jeffrey, Marcus, Jacob, Caleb, Stella, Bodhi, Lindie, Marin, Palmer, McNeil and Adalynn. Special “scuzzin” Joyce (David), and special friend/sister Mary. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins residing here and in Minnesota.
