Obituary Michael Gierczynski Michael passed into the arms of Our Lord in his sleep on Saturday, October 15, 2011. He is survived by his wife Agnes of 56 years, sons Mike, Frank, Paul, Andre (Angie) and daughter Agnes Brazill (Michael). Mike was born the only son to Stanley and Antonina Gierczynski on May 22, 1933 in Warsaw, Poland. Mike was 16 when he came to the United States, eventually settling in Chicago where he met his future wife. He served 21 years in the United States Marine Corps having served in Korea and he was awarded a bronze star his second tour in Vietnam. He retired a Captain, always faithful. He received a Masters Degree in Public Planning from Pepperdine University. He shared his love of travel with his entire family and his home was filled with mementos of the places he visited. Michael loved reading, gardening, and loved to watch and participate in games of all sorts, especially cribbage. Mike maintained lifelong friends through the Marine Corps. Mike is, was and always will be a consummate joker. Michael was devoted and enjoyed fellowship in the Catholic Church. A loving father and husband, Micahel was greatly loved and will always be remembered. "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4: 6-7 The viewing will be at Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma, WA from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, October 21, 2011. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 am at Saints Peter and Paul Parish. A reception will follow Mass in the Parish Hall with inurnment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Saints Peter and Paul Parish, 3422 Portland Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98404.
