Obituary Mervyn Owen Evans, age 75 - family man, outdoorsman, company man, world traveler- died Wednesday, November 22, 2006, at home in Tacoma. Merv is survived by his wife of 53 years, the love of his life, Beverly; his mother, Alyce Stuart; four sons: Guy, Gregg (Maria), Gary (Diah) and Garth (Therese), and five grandsons: Stuart and Logan, Walker, and Maverick and Pacific. Merv was an "old school" company man, having given 33 years of loyal service to the Hershey Foods Corporation, but first and foremost he was a family man. From the countless camping, fishing, clamming, hunting and skiing trips that defined his family as the boys were growing up, to traveling with Bev to some 40 countries in recent years, Merv's love of his wife and boys shaped everything he did. Comfortable with any sort of tool in his hand, Merv could expertly fix a car, put in a yard, build a picnic table or finish a basement. He loved music and played the piano; loved and trained his faithful hunting dogs; grilled steaks and salmon in the summer and made the best crab sandwiches in the world every Christmas Eve. Merv laughed easily and often, always had a listening ear and time for others, and made friends easily, whether across the fence or around the world. Thirteen years into retirement, Merv was enjoying his travels with Bev. Proud of each of his sons and their successes, head over heels for his smart and talented grandsons, and looking forward to every family gathering, every visit from a son or grandson, and every quiet day at home with Bev. His was a rich and wonderful life, full of self-giving and kindness. At Merv's request there will be no public memorial service
