Obituary Maurice C. "Morrie" McCarthy 1911 - 2011 The passing of our father has left us with a tremendous void which will be filled with the loving memories and inspiration he gave us. Dad was born in Tacoma to William and Mary McCarthy and died on September 4, 2011, three months before his 100th birthday. He attended St. Leo's Grade School and Stadium High School. He went to work during high school to help support the family during the Depression. He met and married his beloved wife of 60 years Mary in 1941 and soon relocated to the Puyallup Valley to raise his family where he began his career as owner of Mason & Burks Menswear, Inc. until his retirement in 1975. Dad was a devout Roman Catholic, a loyal union member of 70+ years, a great Mariner, Notre Dame and Husky fan. He is survived by his son Bob (Penny) McCarthy, daughter Maureen (Gary) Hallett, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren with another great grandson on his way and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Contributions to the St Charles Borromeo Scholarship Fund for underprivileged students are greatly appreciated. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Charles Borromeo located at 7112 S 12th St., Tacoma, WA 98465 on Tuesday, September 13th at 9am. Dad's positive outlook on life and cheerful personality touched all who knew him.
