Obituary Maureen Lynn (Hart) Matz Maureen was surrounded by her loved ones when she peacefully passed away Monday evening, September 22, 2014. Maureen was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and daughter that was born in Lakewood on July 16, 1965. In her younger days she spent many hours with her family working at their lake place, traveling, and just enjoying a great big Irish family and their get-togethers. She met her husband, David Jerome Matz, at a church youth group function. We are all fortunate that her mother let her continue dating a college guy even after stating that there would be only one date. After graduating from Curtis High School in University Place in 1983, she went on to Clover Park College to become a dental assistant. After 12 successful years in the dental field, she gave birth to her favorite son and first born Garrett David Matz. Giving up her career to have another beloved one, she became a stay at home mom. Two years later she gave birth to her first girl, Emma Lacey Matz. Finally three years later she gave birth to her third and final child, Catherine Grace Matz. Maureen would spend her days getting her children off to school, walking her dogs with her mom, and making sure she was home when the kids walked back through the door. Her family was the most important part of Maureen's life. She will not only be missed by her husband of 28 years and her children, but also her whole family. By her parents, Grace and Mike Hart; her siblings, Kelly Hanson (Ted), Mike Hart Jr. (Tiffany), and Sean Hart (Laura); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at New Tacoma Cemetery.
