Mary Frances Vukovich

Obituary Mary F. (Jasprica) Vukovich 1922 - 2012 Mary F. Vukovich, 90, passed away on Friday, July 27th, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Roslyn, Washington and was raised and lived her entire life in Tacoma and Fife. She was the youngest of four children, born to Matthew and Frances Jasprica, who were immigrants from Croatia to the United States. She was preceded in death by her husband John, brothers Matt and Nick Jasprica and sister Katherine Meucci. She attended McCarver Elementary and Junior High, and Stadium High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Knapp's Business College for accounting and worked several years at the Internal Revenue Service. She married John Vukovich in 1945 and they were married for 54 years before his passing. During their life together, they owned apartments in Tacoma and motels in Ocean Shores. She was a member and local secretary of the Croatian Fraternal Union of Tacoma. John and Mary had three children, Marilyn (Vince) Kokich, Frances (Jack) Ancich, and John Vukovich. They were also blessed with eight grandchildren, Vince (Michelle) Kokich, Mary (Alex) Boer, Nicole Ancich, Angela (Sean) Nellist, Jack (Christin) Ancich, Obie (Lindsay) Kokich, Lisa Vukovich, and Marija Kokich, as well as seven great grandchildren, Nicholas Boer, Madalen, Nicholas, Lucas, Mary Katherine, Jackson, and Mia Kokich, and Ava, Alexa, and Mason Nellist, and several nieces and nephews. Most of her children and grandchildren live in the Tacoma area, so she could see and visit her family frequently. Although she is physically gone, we will never forget our wonderful mother, grandmother, and Teta Mary. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 2, 2012. Rosary will be recited prior to the mass at 10:30AM at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, in Fife. The family suggests donations be made to The Food Connection at St. Leo's.
