Obituary Mary Virginia "Ginny" McCarthy 7/12/1917 - 8/2/2006 Ginny passed away on Tuesday as the result of complications from a fall at her home in Fircrest earlier in the week. She was one of eleven children. She was born to Louis and Clara Brotherton on July 12, 1917 in Duluth Minnesota. She moved to West Seattle in 1927. She graduated from Holy Names Academy and attended Seattle University. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Allenmore Golf Club, recording a hole in one at age 67. Ginny was a remarkable woman. She was a devoted wife and wonderful nurturing mother. She will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, personal warmth and dedication to friends and family. On September 10, 1938 Ginny married Tom McCarthy with whom she had a picture book marriage for 58 years. Ginny was greeted in heaven by those preceding her in death; husband Tom and grand-children Mary Sadlier, Todd Barber, Bill Dunlap and Kelly McCarthy. She is survived by: her children - Marianne (Chuck) LeSueur of Seattle, Tim (Carole) McCarthy of Puyallup, Claire (John) Sadlier of Gig Harbor, Mickey (Frank) Thomason of Fouke AR, Sheila (Tom) McAllister of Downingtown PA , Colleen (Pat) VanCleave of Edgewood WA, Terry McCarthy (Hal Boudreau) of Tacoma, David McCarthy of Enumclaw, Brian McCarthy of Juneau, AK., Loretta McCarthy-Dollard (Blaine) of Bellevue; 32 grand-children and 42 great-grand-children; sister Marilyn Strzelec; brother-in-law Leonard McCarthy and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Ginny was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Charles Borromeo parish. She treasured her faith, family and Irish heritage. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2006. Entombment at Calvary Cloisters.
