Obituary Mary Cecelia Horther Our beautiful mother, Mary Cecelia Horther, age 100, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at home. A Tacoma native, born October 29, 1912, she was raised at St. Joseph's Slovak Church, and she graduated from Lincoln High School and Knapps Business College. After a short career in business, she married Philip Horther in 1938, set up housekeeping in the north end of Tacoma, joined St. Patrick's Parish and was active there for the rest of her life. Mary was proud of her volunteer activities with the Tacoma Community Chest and St. Joseph Hospital. She was a member of the Weenonah Orthopedic Guild, and was an early member of Junia Todd Hallen Study Group. Mary was a member of the Tacoma Country and Golf Club, enjoying many days playing golf there with friends and family. She also enjoyed tennis at the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club with her friends. She was active with St. Patrick's Parish Altar Society for over fifty years. She enjoyed expressing her exquisite artistic ability as a member of her sewing circle. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Julia Antush, husband Philip Horther, brother Joseph Antush and three siblings who died as infants. She is survived by her daughters; Anne Jesse (Darrell) of Lakewood; Mary Young (David) of Lakewood; Susan Horther of Seattle; six grandchildren; Darrell H. Jesse of Seattle; Philip H. Jesse (Anne Marie) of Tacoma; Anna Julia Colasuonno (Jon) of Portland, OR; Elise Marie Mignardot (Henry) of Santa Fe, NM; Rev. David H. Young of Black Diamond, WA; Mary C. Morris (William) of Tacoma; Peggy E. Horther of Seattle; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Parish at 10:00 AM, Monday January 7, 2013, 1001 North J Street, Tacoma. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Sunday January 6, 2013 at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S. Yakima Avenue, Tacoma. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
