Mary Adella Hagan

Obituary Mary Adella (Baer) Hagan passed away on January 10, 2008. She was born September 1, 1926 in New Ulm, MN; one of six children to Gottlieb and Pearl Baer. She earned her Registered Nurse diploma from St. Catherine's College and then served as an RN in both the Army and Air Force. In 1953 Mary met Edward (Ned) Hagan at a Cardinal Club social and on June 26, 1954 they wed at St. Vincent de Paul Church in San Francisco. Together they raised their seven children in Sacramento and Tacoma. As an RN she worked at University California Hospital at San Francisco and Pierce County Blood Bank. An active member of St. Charles Borromeo, she served the needs of individuals, volunteered in social justice concerns and was a member of Tacoma Serra Club. Mary was an active advocate for a healthy lifestyle. Mary loved spending time with her family as well as knitting, and sewing. We will miss her playful spirit and warm laugh. Mary is survived by her devoted husband Ned; children Jane Hagan (Mark Kirchmeier), Julia Hagan (Michael Murphy), Colleen Hagan (John Pendergrass), Molly Hagan (Chris Constantine), John Hagan (Teresa Hagan), Susan Hagan (BC Kim), Kate Hagan (John McCarthy) and grandchildren: Anne, Clare, Tristan, Andy, Colin, Grace, Shannon, Ian, Reiland, Pearl, Genevieve, Sean, Frank and Kyle; brothers Paul, William and James and sister Genevieve. Rosary will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16th at Gaffney Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 17th at St. Charles Borromeo Church with reception following. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Gaffney Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of My Grandma's House, especially Elvie, Eddie, Helen other caregivers Meg and Maria and also to Tina, Tom, Rose, Lisa, Vicky and Kristin of Multicare Hospice.
