Mary Julia Dittmann Gole died peacefully on January 3rd at the age of 60. For more than a decade Julie dealt courageously with an autoimmune liver disorder -- without complaint – that took a sudden and severe turn from which she could not recover. Julie leaves behind her beloved husband of 33 years, John, sons Robert and Greg and daughter-in-law Andrea. She was so looking forward to meeting Greg and Andrea’s daughter -- Julie’s first grandchild --due to be born this spring. She is also survived by her sisters Susie Hughes, Margi Unwin and Jane Dittmar and brothers Dan and Joe Dittmann, and a multitude of nieces and nephews who loved her. Over the years, Julie’s career has been varied but, to her, the most important job she had was being Robert and Greg’s mom. They will both tell you that she was superb at that. Julie was gifted in many ways, not the least of which was her beautiful singing voice. She will be remembered as a smart, beautiful and generous woman with a fabulous sense of humor. Family always came first for Julie, but her openness to life and kindness to others meant she made lifelong friends and collected fans wherever she went. She loved dogs and polar bears! Born in Tacoma, she called the Pacific Northwest home even though she spent years living in Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, California and Arizona. She was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. She appeared in live shows at Cedar Point Amusement Park as a singer and dancer and was a cantor for many years at her church. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and P.E.O. International. Her family is comforted by the fact that she was a woman deeply rooted in her faith, which guided all she did.
