Obituary Mary V. Hardy DeFazio 12/4/1943 ?" 7/17/2009 She was born on December 4, 1943 in Artesia, CA and passed away on July 18th peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mary was a 63 year resident of Tacoma and Fircrest, WA. She attended St. Patrick's Grade School, Aquinas Academy and graduated from Stadium High School. She worked for Pacific Northwest Bell and Masterman Vending. She retired in 2000 and enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Mexico, Montana as well as attending several fun Irish "Hardy family" reunions. Being a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend gave her so much joy. Mary enjoyed opening her home to many of her children's friends. She also enjoyed gardening, music and travelling. Her family has wonderful memories of yearly vacations on Anderson Island, Lake Chelan and at the family summer home on Long Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. Hardy and Lois Jansen Hardy, and her in-laws, John and Rose Naccarato DeFazio. She is survived by her loving family and friends, including Roger DeFazio, her children, Lori (Tim) Gavranich, Loren and Christian DeFazio, her sister and friend, Pat Hardy Macaluso, nephews Sean and Dean Macaluso, her two beautiful granddaughters, Chelsea and Caitlyn Gavranich. In addition the Gavranich Family, her 55 first cousins and 11 aunts and uncles survive her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7112 S. 12th St., on July 25, 2009 at 11 am. A special thank you to Dr. Krishnadasan, Dr. Oliveira, Francsican Hospice and their staff, Karen, Pat and Tina for their care and concern. Donations may be made to St. Charles Borromeo, St. Leo's Food Connection or Franciscan Hospice. Her Irish eyes are now truly smiling as she clips her coupons in Heaven.
