Obituary There was once a girl who had a rough childhood. She endured. She survived. She blamed no one. She held no grudge. She hoped and she smiled. She danced joyfully. She sang soulfully. She beaded carefully. She adventured boldly. She paddled fiercely. She cherished her family. She sacrificed for them. She was proud of them. She loved them. She got sick. And still she persevered. She survived years longer than doctors thought she would. She was strong. She was tough. Mary Margaret Carlson (Douglas), age 60, passed away on Nov. 27, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 32 years Jeff, her children Paul, Louisa, Peter and Ellyn as well as her brothers Charles and George. She adored her grandchildren Noah, Adeline, Glenda, Atticus and Catriona. She is preceded in death by her parents Glen and Adeline, and her siblings Lewis, Dorothy, Glenda and Roland. Mary is admired for her unbroken strength, unending kindness, profound wisdom and joyful laugh. A wake for Mary will be held at 7 pm, on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Puyallup Tribal Youth Center, 5803 N. Levee Rd E in Tacoma. Funeral service will be 10 am Monday, Dec. 3 at Puyallup Tribal Youth Center, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery 5212 S 70th St in Tacoma Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home
