Obituary MARY KATHLEEN FARLEY BROWN Grandma Brown passed away peacefully December 24, 2008. She was 95, born August 13, 1913 in Tacoma WA. One of nine children of William Paul and Delia Ella Farley. She is the last of the nine to die. Preceded in death by her husband of 27 years Arthur Brown (died 1967) and son Dennis (died 1968). She is survived by her children: Kirby Brown (Olivia Zapata), Jerome Brown, Mary Delia Berg, Paul Brown; and by her grand and great grandchildren: Edward (Aimee) Berg, daughter Lucy Berg; Catherine (Sam) McLean; Aaron, Nevin and Zachary Brown, Fred (Hiromi) Fermin, son Shanley and daughter Selena Fermin. Mary Farley graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma. After high school, she worked at R.E. Anderson Real Estate where she met her husband. She had many talents:: cooking, canning, baking, sewing, painting, wallpapering, and assorted other arts and crafts. She was an excellent gardener and plant keeper. Friends would often bring dying plants to our mother. She would revive them. Mom was a loyal Seattle Mariner's fan. She watched nearly every game, even during last year's dismal season. Until her last day with us, Christmas Eve, Mom was "hip", clear thinking with a good memory and great sense of humor. She had many loving friends in her last home of 12 years at Chancery Place Apartments in Seattle. Her family is grateful to all her friends and the staff there. An active and involved member of St. Patrick's Church in Tacoma for 56 years, Mary Brown had a simple but strong faith that sustained her and inspired her children and friends. She remains among us in spirit. We are happy that Mom is again with our father and brother, and with her brothers and sisters. We love and miss you, Grandma.
