Obituary Mary Boskovich Mary was born November 17, 1926 in Tacoma, WA. She was the first born of Paul Dorotich and Milka (Jonsich) Dorotich, who immigrated from the Island of Brac on the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. She was born in the home of Bozi and Magdalena Boskovich, the parents of her future husband Ted Boskovich. She and her parents moved to their lifelong home a few blocks away on North 30th Street in Tacoma. Mary spoke only Serbo-Croatian until she entered first grade at St. Patrick's School. Next she attended and graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1944. Throughout WWII Mary volunteered as a USO hostess where she learned to love to dance. Anyone who came to her family home were welcomed and fed. During the war years, these strangers all were wearing uniforms and serving our country. After secretary school, Mary worked for the I.R.S. There she made a multitude of lifelong friends. No one was a stranger once Mary had a conversation with them. After Ted returned from serving in the Navy in WWII, their romance began. It blossomed into Mary and Ted's marriage on January 3rd, 1948 at St. Patrick's Church. Mary then moved back into the home where she was born in 1926 and began sharing the home with Ted and her mother-in-law (and her godmother) Magdalena. Mary lived out her days in this home. Mary's priorities were raising her children, spending time with family and friends, and going to Church. She worked part time for the County Auditor's Office, then full time in order to give her children a college education. With retirement, she and Ted cruised and traveled to many beautiful and exotic places. She also traveled with the gals from her monthly "sewing" group (I never saw them sew!). Mary enjoyed being organized, gardening, Church, luncheons and move any invitations. She volunteered for many things. Her favorites were "The Tacoma Musical Playhouse" where she never missed a performance and SABS (Slavonian American Benevolent Society). She belonged to SABS for many years and worked behind the scenes, but most remembered her as the smiling face who greeted all at the SABS dinners. Mary began in her teenage years writing to soldiers serving in WWII. Her notes and card writing continued until two days prior to her passing. A motto of hers was "when in doubt, send a thank you note." Mary is survived by her son Bill Boskovich, daughter Ann Boskovich (Rory Elliott), daughter-in-law Rondi Boskovich, sister-in-law Yvonne Boskovich, sister Pauline Taylor, many nieces, nephews and many friends.
