Obituary Mary Victoria Bartenetti September 20, 1913 - September 1, 2011 Mary was born to Frank and Conchetta Baselli in Melmont, WA. She graduated from Carbonado High School in Carbonado, WA. Married to Frank Bartenetti, a longtime Tacoma barber, on July 12, 1931, they resided in Tacoma where they raised three sons, John, Frank and David. Mary was a homemaker and pioneer of many talents. She loved to cook and loved to keep family and friends well-fed with her spaghetti, biscotti and other wonderful Italian dishes. In the forties, Mary was involved in the war efforts and was also active in many clubs: The Garden Club, St. Leo's Mother's Club (where she was President), the Wright Park Band, the Stardusters, and the Tacoma Banjo Band, among others. At the age of 55, she took banjo and guitar lessons at Wright Park and also volunteered much of her time there as well as teaching oil painting. She mastered many arts and crafts, including wood carving and oil painting which were very dear to her. Many of her works of art have been passed along and are enjoyed by her family today. In her later years, music became her passion and she would play as often as she could. One of her fondest memories was playing opening day at the Puyallup Fair. To her delight, she was able to do this for many years. Christmas time held a special place with Mary. She spent months preparing for it, and enjoyed sharing and giving to those around her. Survived by her are her sons John (Alice), CA, Frank (Mary Lou), Federal Way, and David (Mary), Tacoma. Mary was blessed with fourteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Phil and Tony, and husband Frank of 66 years. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 7, 2011, 11:00 am, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Memorial donations can be made to Franciscan Hospice. Family would like to express their gratitude to Arbor Rose and staff for their care and compassion.
