Obituary MARY BARCLAY ABBOTT 1915 ~ 2008 Mary Barclay Abbott passed away January 10, 2008. She was born to Scottish parents, Matilda and Thomas Barclay on August 24, 1915. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Morry Abbott and son, Edward Abbott. She is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Mike) Turner and their children Michael and Lesley; son Peter (Gail) Abbott and children Shaun and Adrienne and grandchild John, son of Edward Abbott. There are four great-grandchildren. Mary was very proud to have grown up in the Waller Road area where she and her five siblings attended a one room school house. She graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Morry Abbott and the family lived in the birthplace of Bing Crosby in the north end of Tacoma for forty-five years. She had a great love of baseball especially the Seattle Mariners. Mary was a very private person but she held strong opinions. In keeping with this she requested a private graveside service where she was buried next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery. There is a bond that connects us all. It may be like a delicate thread, but in sad times it becomes like a line of steel that helps to bind us to one another. If desired, donations can be made to the Pet Fund at the Tacoma Lutheran Home or the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society. Please leave online condolences at www.GaffneyCares.com. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home, 253-572-6003.
