Obituary Martha Lagos Tryfon Born in Pocatello, Idaho on January 24, 1916, she died on February 24, 2011. Her parents were Nicholas K. Lagos and Urania Stavropoulos Lagos of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was predeceased by her husband John George Tryfon and her son George John Tryfon. Sisters who predeceased her were Connie Morris of Blackfoot, Idaho; Pat Mouritsen of Las Vegas, Nevada and Peggy Taylor of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is survived by her daughter JoAnn Tryfon and grandchildren Sandra Ciarochi, Jon Tryfon and Tod Tryfon; great-grandchildren Nichole Tryfon, Alexandra Ciarochi, Kristina and Ashley Tryfon, and great-great-grandchild Emma Houseman all of the Tacoma area. Other surviving siblings are: brother James Lagos of Pocatello, Idaho and sisters: Florence Hill of Carson City, Nevada; Elaine Mlynek of Chandler, Arizona; Julie Epperly of Scottsdale, Arizona and Irene Bates of Goodyear, Arizona. She is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well. Martha was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho and moved to Tacoma when she was married. There, she and her husband operated Tryfon Hatters on Commerce Street for over fifty years. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, the Daughters of Penelope and the Order of Eastern Star. Along with her hobbies of gardening and sewing, she was adept at cooking and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. For many years she availed her home as a voting precinct. She worked along with many others tirelessly, to assure the success of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Annual Church Festival. Devotion to church, family and philanthropic organizations was a driving force. An Orthodox Trisagion Service will be held at Gaffney Funeral Home on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church with burial at Tacoma Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to St. Nicholas "Sanctuary Floor" Fund or Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care. Please leave online condolences at www.GaffneyCares.com.
