Marion Wanchena

Obituary Marion Wanchena Marion Wanchena passed away on February 24, 2015 at the age of 96 in Tacoma, Washington. Marion was born in Roudup, Montana on December 21, 1918 to Park and Edna Newton. She was the youngest of four children: brothers, Herbert and Walter; and sister, Bertha. While still in high school, Marion met the love of her life, Vance Wanchena. They married on August 27, 1938. She then began her life as a loving wife, devoted mother, and homemaker. In 1942, her husband Vance moved to Tumwater, Washington to work as a welder in the Tacoma Shipyards as his contribution to the war effort. Marion and the children joined him shortly after. Marion was blessed with three daughters, Marlene, Vicky, and Toni. In 1956, Vance and Marion welcomed into the family two more children to love, Matt and Tim. Marion was a very active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Tacoma, Washington. Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vance. She is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Rod) Foss, Granite Falls, WA; Vicky (Joe) Reder, Tacoma, WA; Toni (Dennis) Vercillo, Tacoma, WA; and two sons, Matt Wanchena, Tacoma, WA; and Tim (Tanya) Wanchena, Federal Way, WA; fourteen grandchildren: Karen (Ed) Rosencrans, Kristie Foss, Craig (Tiffany) Foss, Tammy (Mike) Gagliardi, Rene' (Dan) Keys, Debbie Reder, Joe (Elizabeth) Reder, Dennis (Melanie) Vercillo, Jeanine (Rob) Rochefort, Tracey Vercillo, John (Sarah) Vercillo, Ryon Wanchena, Haleigh Wanchena, Makenzie Wanchena; and 20 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited prior to Mass at 10:30am also at the church.
