Mariann Lee O'Larey

September 27, 1947 — September 4, 2015

Obituary Mariann Lee O'Larey Mariann Lee O'Larey, 67, of Tacoma, entered into eternal life on September 4, 2015 surrounded by her children and family. Her spirit is carried on by her mother, four children, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, four siblings, and an extended family of relatives and friends from every walk of life. Mariann was born in Portland, Oregon to Yvonne and Harold Seibel on September 27, 1947. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1965. In 1970 she married her soul mate, Bob O'Larey. Her younger sister once said, "Along with their best friends, the Oswalds, they were like the rat pack of their time - funny beyond belief, fearless, smart, courageous, great cooks, positive thinking, successful, loving, helped countless people and trendsetters. Everyone loved them and wanted to hang with them." Mariann raised her children at home until Bob passed away in 1981, and then went to work selling cars in Tacoma. She was a pioneer in this man's profession. She was a top sales woman at Milam Ford and then became one of the first women to sell F&I for Steven's Motor Company. Mariann was in love with her grandchildren. On their "date night" she'd cook them lobster tail or when they got older she'd let them drive a car before they should. She was the cool nana with a style all her own. The woman had a strong presence about her, never missed an opportunity to laugh and did exactly what she wanted. You were either laughing or in shock by what came out of her mouth. Her hobbies included daily talks with her mother, gardening, cooking, traveling, collecting recipes, gambling, crafts, and telling you how it is. Mariann was always mothering. At times she took care of her siblings, her children's friends, God children, neighbors, and the occasional stranger. She will be remembered most for raising amazing children on her own, her humor, her incredible strength, her nice legs, and leaving impressions on everyone she met. Survived by her mother, 87, of Portland; her children: Jerry O'Larey of Tacoma, WA (wife Odette, children Jordan and Sebastian, and great-grandchild Noah); Priscilla Esplin of Corvallis, OR (husband Vernon, children Jonathon and Logan); Robert O'Larey of Bellingham, WA (wife Cristina, children Mikaela and Robert); and her baby Hillary O'Larey of Puyallup, WA; siblings, Robert, Eddie, Judy, and Lawrence. Mariann is reunited with her husband, the love of her life and favorite dance partner, Robert C. O'Larey; and is predeceased by her father, four siblings, and her beloved niece, Natasha. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1:00pm at St. John of the Woods Catholic Church (9903 - 24th Ave E., Tacoma) followed by graveside services where she will be laid to rest with Bobby at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Her beautiful viewing will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from Noon-5:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home (1002 S. Yakima Ave, Tacoma). Friends (and strangers she would love to have met) are invited to visit with Mariann's family for debauchery at the Silver Cloud Inn on September 11, 2015 at 5:00pm. In her memory, donations may be made to her grandchildren's higher education at any Chase Bank in her name. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
