Marguerite Anita Schlumpf

September 28, 1930 — September 18, 2009

Obituary Marguerite A. Schlumpf Marguerite Anita Morrisette Schlumpf passed away in the company of her loving family after a very long progressive illness on Friday, September 18 at Avalon Care Center in Federal Way. Marguerite leaves her husband of 61 years, Jacob (Jack) Schlumpf of Milton, WA and her five children: Jacob Schlumpf, Jr. (Pamela McMahan) of Cambridge, MA, Daniel Schlumpf of Orting, Margene Schlumpf of Fife, Julie Schlumpf of Fife, and Marty Schlumpf (Julie) of Puyallup. She also leaves four grandchildren: Zachary Schlumpf, Erin Schlumpf, Brightin Schlumpf and Katelyn Mathews (Josh). Marguerite is also survived by her loving brother, Ted Morrisette of Edgewood. Born in Butte, Montana on September 28, 1930 to Martin Morrisette and Agnes (Stefanec) Morrisette, Marguerite later moved to Tacoma with her parents and four siblings. She attended Fife and Stadium High Schools. After raising her children, she returned to school and worked with the Institute of Christian Ministries (I.C.M.) In the late 1980s she and her husband moved to Hawaii and she worked for Project Respect, a Catholic counseling service. In addition to the many close and lifelong friends she made, Marguerite's favorite memory of life in Hawaii was floating in the crystal blue waters while gazing at Diamond Head. She also reveled in the big sky beauty of her childhood home in Montana, and traveled back many times to visit her extended family. Marguerite's deep and enduring faith was a powerful source of inspiration to all she knew and loved. Her delight in the wonders of human nature sparked laughter, jokes and endless funny memories. Her lovely, generous "we make our own fun" philosophy put her at the center of every gathering with family and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, September 26 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Parish, 2305 54th Ave., Fife. Rosary is at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00. Reception follows in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Institute of Christian Ministries, 2551 N.E. 205th St., Shoreline, WA 98155, or Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. Love you. . . eternity. Please leave online condolences at www.GaffneyCares.com. Arrangements by Gaffney Funeral Home, 253-572-6003.
