Obituary Marguerite M. Van Eycke (Margaret) Marguerite Van Eycke passed away on February 2, 2006 at the age of 99. She was born in Wielsbeke, Belgium on April 29, 1906. She was the youngest of 21 children born to Theophiel and Marie Ostyn, now all deceased. Marguerite came to this country when she was 13 years old and settled with her family in Detroit, Michigan. There she met and married her husband Jules Van Eycke on June 30, 1928. They moved to Tacoma in 1934 where they made their home and raised two sons, Ronald and Donald. Being a homemaker, wife and mother, and an active member of the Catholic Church were very important to Marguerite. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and was active in many bowling leagues in Tacoma. Preceded in death by her husband Jules in 1984, she is survived by sons Ronald J. (Marilyn) Van Eycke of Lacey, Donald A. (Elaine) Van Eycke of Tacoma, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Franciscan Care Center for the loving care they gave to Marguerite during the past 15 months she resided there. Remembrances may be made to Franciscan Care Center, 6220 S. Alaska St., Tacoma WA 98408, or to a charity of your choice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 8, 2006 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at Gaffney Funeral Home. Entombment at Calvary Cloisters. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneyfuneralhome.com .
