Obituary Margaret Elizabeth Melia Garmong Maggie passed away on August 5, 2015 at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Washington, DC. She was the third child of five sisters and brothers, Frances, Mildred, John and Gene. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Nursing, her career as loving caregiver carried her across the globe from DC to Hawaii to Japan. In 1949, she was called to active duty as a nurse in the Army Reserve. Training at Fort Lewis, she met the love of her life, David Garmong. They courted during the Korean War, and were married in 1954. As a professional Nurse and joyful mother, she took care of the home and children through many deployments and assignments around the world. Maggie was an active member of St. Theresa Parish for over 40 years, and a devoted volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Maggie was an avid bowler in many leagues in Federal Way for over 35 years where she formed deep friendships. She adored her friends and family and is survived by her son, Richard Garmong (Joan); daughter, Adrienne Howe (Gregg); five grandchildren, Patrick Garmong (Rachel), Melissa Garmong, Kasandra Good (Ryan), Riley Howe, and Brody Howe; and three great grandchildren, Makenna and Josephine Pasich, and Brody Good. Our Mother, Maggie has gone home to be with God and to dance in the heavens with the love of her life, David. Words cannot express our loss and yet our joy, that she is free from the anguish of Alzheimer's and in the arms of our Savior. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 11:00am at the Chapel of St. Theresa Catholic Church (3939 SW 331st St., Federal Way). The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 7:00pm at St. Theresa Church. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery. We ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to: Alzheimer's Association or to Franciscan Hospice House in University Place. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneycares.com.
