Margaret Louise Angelos

On April 17, 2023 Margaret Angelos, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

Margaret was born in Tacoma, WA, the only daughter of Joseph and Matilda Schibig.  She graduated from Aquinas Academy in 1952.  To help pay for her education, she worked part time at the Temple Theater and then for a bank in  downtown Tacoma.

Soon after, she met the love of her life, George Angelos, through her brother, Ed.  They married in 1955.  Together, they raised seven children.

Margaret’s first and foremost love has always been her family.  She devoted her life to her kids and did not work outside the home until her youngest daughter, Margaret (Chaco), was in first grade.  She then went to work for the Tacoma School District as a cook until her retirement in 2000.

After retiring, she focused on her favorite hobby- her garden.  She used to take her ruler and yard stick to each of her flower beds and make sure that each and every plant were spaced evenly apart.

Her patience showed in so many ways.  She would send away for marigold seeds through the Park Seed catalog.  She would start them in egg or milk cartons until they were ready to be transplanted outside.  They were the most beautiful flowers.  People would sometimes stop their cars and tell her how gorgeous her yard was.

She would go to nurseries and pick out the damaged plants just so she could bring them back to life.

In her back yard, she created a tranquil home for the birds.  She loved to watch them from her kitchen window feeding from her multiple feeders.  She had her favorite birds and especially liked the hummingbirds.  She made them home made sugar water, and they devoured it.

Margaret was a true nurturer.  That quality carried through to every aspect of her life.  Everyone who met her always remembered her sweet nature and positive attitude.  She loved to laugh and loved even more to make others laugh.

Margaret was a devout Catholic who enjoyed attending services at St. Rita for as long as she was physically able to.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Matilda, husband George, and brother Lawrence Edward.  She is survived by her older brother, Joe, children Tom (Jana) Angelos, Debbie (Gary) Wilber, Karen Angelos (Dan Strege), Georgia (Pete) Froelich, Tina Billings, Greg Angelos, and Margaret (Jon) Rican.  Seven grandchildren, Darrell, Brian, Marissa, Ashley, Luke, JT and Mikey.  Two great grandchildren Conrad and Hazel. Numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins.
