Marcy Rae (Conner) Frlan, born August 31, 1941, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family, April 29, 2024. She was the first graduating class (1959) of Wilson Highschool, Tacoma WA. She later studied Art at Central Washington University after returning home to work as a pharmacy technician and bookkeeper at Stowell’s pharmacy, where she met the love of her life, John Frlan.
Mom dedicated herself to service to community and family. She started fundraising for Mary bridge Children’s hospital in high school and never stopped, working many years with the Tacoma Orthopedic Association, serving on the board as well as a continued member of the local Holiday Orthopedic Guild. Her work ethic and creativity were instrumental in the continued success of the Festival of Trees, as well as the establishment of the new Tacoma Art Museum, Point Defiance Flower and Garden Show and Zoobilee.
As a Master Gardner, she established a presence at the Proctor Farmers Market, advising local gardeners for over 20 years. Throughout all of her work she made many friends who always commented on her friendly, sweet demeanor.
Marcy is survived by her daughters, Raegan Huffman and Heather Sramek, and grandchildren Alexander and Henry Huffman; stepchildren, Debbie (Don) Smith, John (Kim) Frlan, Cathy (Paulo) Tellini and many step-grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband John Frlan, mother Marion Hill, and sisters Victoria Conner, Pamela Conner and Mori-Jean Smith. Services will be held at 11 am Thursday May 16th St. Patrick Catholic Church, followed by a private burial at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Mary Bridge Childrens Hospital.
