Marcia Elise Smith

Obituary Born on December 1, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan to Dr. Dwight and Eunice Ernest. Raised in Peoria, Illinois. She attended Antioch High School, Berkley College, and Santa Clara University. She married Leo Gilbert Smith January 26, 1952, and enjoyed 55 years of marriage. She and Leo have four children Mathew, Maralee, Bridget, and Rusty. Marcia was active with her family and community belonging to many groups. She was an active member of the Tacoma Sunrise Rotary Club with her husband Leo in charge of District Youth Exchange Program for almost 18 years. In this role she touched the lives of many people around the world. She was also a teacher in both California and Washington, specializing in Special Education. After retirement, she continued to substitute for the Tacoma School District. She gave every student her full effort and attention. She was also involved in the Steilacoom Historical Society as a board member and later as President. The number of areas she was involved in is to numerous to list. She will be greatly missed by all those lives she has touched. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 10, 2007, 11:00am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church located at 10508 112th St. SW, Lakewood, WA 98498 (253)582-1028. Rosary Service to start at 10:00 am. Lunchto follow Mass. All friends and members of her extended family are invited to attend in remembrance of this truly great lady who made such a difference in the lives of so many during her life time.
