Louise Thomasina Nordi

Obituary Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother died on January 9th 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 95. Louise was born in Tacoma, WA on Feb 6, 1911 to Jim and Rose Paine. She grew up in Tacoma and attended Annie Wright Seminary and The College of Puget Sound. She was active in Scouting as a Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout/Mariner leader and trainer. In Girl Scouts, she received The St. Anne's Award. Louise was a member of YLI and in her younger years belonged to the Dental Auxiliary, The Rotary Anns and the Altar Society and was the oldest living honorary member of The Catholic Women's Club. Mom thoroughly enjoyed all sports, especially football, car and horse racing. Mom was a unique and outstanding needlepoint artist completing hundreds of tapestries for family and friends. One of her greatest loves was the beach. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Arthur E. Nordi and parents Jim and Rose Paine. She is survived by her three children George (LuAnn) Nordi, Tom (Judy) Nordi and Janet (Ted) Vosberg; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Her family extends a special Thank You to all of her caregivers, Park Rose and Multicare Hospice. Viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 16th 2007 with Rosary to follow at 4:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home, 1002 S. Yakima Ave. Tacoma, WA., Graveside service on Wednesday Jan 17th 2007 at Calvary Cemetery at 9:30 am with a Memorial Mass following at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church 5510 N. 44th Tacoma, WA. A reception will be held following the services in the Holy Cross Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Multicare Hospice, P.O. Box 5200 Tacoma, WA 98415.
