Lorraine was born in Tacoma, November 8, 1923 to Frank and Ida Sussman, pioneer Tacoman’s. She died May 11, 2020 in Gig Harbor. Lorraine attended Powell, Mason and graduated from Stadium High school in 1941. She attended the U of W where she was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. Lorraine met and married Karl Braverman during WWII, they settled in Tacoma where they raised their family and operated the Men’s clothing business. Lorraine worked in the family store and later became a certified laboratory assistant working for several doctors.
Lorraine was past president of the Tacoma section, National Council of Jewish Women, where she was involved in volunteer work. She especially enjoyed working for the League for Blind Children brailling primers and tutoring English as a second language for the Tacoma Area Literacy Council. Lorraine was a lifelong member of Temple Beth El, its Sisterhood and Hadassah.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Karl; brother, Philip Sussman and sister, Mollie Grunbaum. She is survived by daughter Nancy (Jeffrey) Snyder; sons, Mark Braverman and Steve (Lisa) Braverman; grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Snyder, David (Misty) Snyder and Benjamin Snyder; and great-grandchildren, Eian Snyder, Mathew Snyder and Brayden Snyder.
