Leo E Gilman

Obituary Leo Edward Gilman was born in Tacoma, WA on March 26, 1926 to Rollin and Celeste Gilman. He attended Bellarmine Prep., graduating in 1944. He was a World War II veteran in the US Navy, and served aboard the USS Huntington. He later joined the Holy Cross Brothers, attending Notre Dame University, and also did missionary work in Brazil. After leaving the seminary he taught for the Franklin Pierce School District, retiring after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife Bonnie and their extended family. He is also survived by his children Edward (Liz), Nicholas (Deb), Jerome (Teddy), Timothy Gilman, Suzanna Ortiz (Carlos), Bernadette Kjellesvik (Ron), Maryrose Gilman (Tony), Lisa Gilman-Swanson, and Lori Joachim. Leo also had 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings, Byron (Judy), Bernie (Kathy), Jim, Dave Gilman, and Mary Carle (Ken). At Leo's request there will be no funeral services. There will be a Rosary taking place Saturday, May 28, 2016, at 11am at the Church of Indian Fellowship located at 2232 E 28th St., Tacoma, WA 98404, followed by a memorial service and potluck at the VFW Post 969, 3510 East McKinley Ave., Tacoma, WA 98404.
