Obituary Lawrence "Larry" Wedvik Lawrence "Larry" Lowell Wedvik, 66, of Lakebay, WA, passed away peacefully at Franciscan Hospice House on August 29, 2014. Larry was diagnosed just three months earlier with mesothelioma. He was surrounded by family at his passing. He leaves behind his wife, Tina Wedvik; two sons, Curtis and Dennis Wedvik; two stepsons, Daniel John and Curtis Krause; sisters, Judith Doll and Aileen Wedvik. He was preceded in death by brother, Dennis Maxon; and both parents, Albert and Ida Wedvik. He has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as a multitude of wonderful friends on the Key Peninsula, where he has lived for the past 25 years. Larry was a kind and sweet man who achieved many successes in his life. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He attended Highline Community College in the 1970's and graduated from their diving program. He went on to dive commercially in the North Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and off the Maine coast. He started a business here in the Puget Sound area doing underwater construction. He helped with the underwater construction of the new Hood Canal Bridge. Larry harvested geoducks and sea urchins for years in the Puget Sound region. He eventually left diving ("I had to sell my equipment so I wouldn't be tempted to go back") and went into real estate, becoming an agent with Dove Realty. After retirement, he focused on his "farm" in Lakebay, where he and Tina had a huge vegetable garden, kiwi trees, "Larry's Berries", chickens, German Shepherds and sheep. In previous years he also raised emu and pigs. He and Tina enjoyed their life with a blue and gold macaw named Coco. Larry's crowning joy in life was his two sons, Curtis and Dennis. He loved both sons with all his heart and saw both through some very difficult times. He was a loving and dependable father, doing everything and anything to help his sons. The family would like to especially send our love to Tina, his wife and soul mate for the past 17 years. She has been his rock of strength, especially since Larry's diagnosis. She went far above and beyond the role of wife, in keeping Larry well, both spiritually and physically. We will be eternally grateful for the love and care she gave Larry. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1:00pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Renton. There will be a gathering of friends and family following the service.
