Obituary Lauretta G. Vukovich On February 1, 2014 Lauretta Gene Vukovich peacefully passed away. Born as a twin on July 21, 1924, she was raised in NE Tacoma and graduated from Federal Way High School in 1942. While employed at the shipyards, she met a handsome sailor. On April 15, 1944 she married Ned M. Vukovich at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. As a homemaker, she was a wonderful cook and made the best pies and cookies. She was a gracious hostess - if you left the house hungry, it was your own fault. Lauretta loved flowers, especially roses, hanging baskets and sitting on the deck feeding her feathered friends. She enjoyed trailer camping, traveling, cruises, polka dancing, anything Dean Martin, the Hood Canal beach place, coffee with the girls at McDonald's, and coconut prawns at Harbor Lights. She belonged to the Red Hats, Aqua Belles, Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post 10018 and the Croatian Lodge 246. To her family and friends, Lauretta freely gave of her generous spirit and love. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 69 years, Ned Vukovich; children, Diane Franks and Mike Vukovich; grandchildren, Debbie Koidahl and Darrin Quaschnik; great-grandsons, Connor, Evan and Jake Quaschnik, Nick and Nate Koidahl; and sister, Marilyn Seoane. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and May Linke; brothers, Al, Manley, and Leroy; and sisters, Bertha Pasinetti and Dorothy Wimer. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at TG Emergency, Allenmore Hospital, U.P. Care Center and Franciscan Hospice House.
