Obituary Laura "Pinky"Lou Hebert Our mom was born January 7, 1928 and died peacefully December 13, 2010. She was born to Rose and Clarence Adams. She has 1 sister, Verna Adams Rauscher and 1 brother, Ronald Adams. She attended Ruston elementary school, Mason Junior High and was a proud graduate of Stadium High School in 1946. Our mom was very athletic and played basketball on school teams and loved watching football. David "Bub" Joseph Hebert Our dad was born July 24, 1928 and died peacefully December 12, 2010. He was born to Helen and Paul J. Hebert. One brother Paul V. Hebert, (deceased) wife (Julie), and 4 sisters, Doris Stevens, (deceased) and husband (Bill), Joan Hammrich (Leo), Mary Hebert, (deceased), and Loretta Macha. He attended Holy Rosary school and graduated from Bellarmine Prep in 1946. Our mom and dad met at Mary Max Dance Studio on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and were married on June 18, 1948. They spent the next 62 years together and passed away within hours of each other so they could be together. At an early age, our mom worked in berry fields in Puyallup and worked in the Harmon Building in Tacoma. Our dad's first jobs were at the Puyallup Fair leveling the horse racing track, working in Peanut and Popcorn concessions, and selling programs. He had many other lines of work throughout his life including being a Shoe Salesman (only 1 day!), owning North End fuel, being a Milkman, a School Bus Driver, and a Cook on a fishing boat in Alaska. Together our parents were self-employed and partners working side by side over the years. They owned a Tavern called the "1518" on Pacific Ave., operated food concessions at Point Defiance Park, Spanaway Speedway, and Mid-Way Speedway. They also sold hot dogs at Lincoln Bowl, Cheney & Husky Stadiums, started and ran a grounds maintenance business for all of Fort Lewis and other large businesses in the Tacoma area, and operated the snack bar for many years at the Yakima Firing Center. In 1958, they started concession stands at the Puyallup Fair with tobacco and in 1974, they built and expanded the concessions to include fruit stands. Later they added an extensive line of candy and sundries to the stands at the fair. This thriving concession business soon expanded into other fairs throughout the state. They also ran concession stands at the 1974 World's Fair in Spokane. They built and leased out the Flag Ship Restaurant and Bob's Pier Tavern in the Tide Flats of Tacoma and most recently, they developed other industrial and commercial properties. What mom and dad are most noted for is their drive-in restaurant called "Bub's Burgers" that they built, owned and operated for many years on the Tacoma tide flats. Our mom was a great gardener and our dad a great storyteller. They participated in their church and were religious about their weekly perpetual adoration hours. Dad and mom were devoted to praying to Our Lady of Guadeloupe. Some of the activities that we enjoyed as a family were smelt fishing, clam digging at the ocean and spending time at our beach house on Vashon Island with family an friends. We all have great experiences growing up and being put to work with our parents too! Both of our parents loved to have parties with the whole family invited. They have 4 children including Kenneth (Sophy), Patrick (Debbie), Roseanne Krajewski (Hank) and Joseph (Kandi). They have 10 grandchildren including Justin, Josophyne, Jonathan, Keven, Aaron, Brian, Kasey, Emily, Sarah and Elodie. They have 1 great grandchild, Hayden, and numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary will be held for mom and dad on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held for both on Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Both the rosary and mass will be at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5510 N. 44th St, Tacoma. A lunch reception with "Bub" burgers will follow in the church hall.
