Obituary Kenney Eugene Fengler was born April 27, 1931 in Tacoma Washington to Orrin and Marguerite Fengler. As a young man, Kenney spent most of his summers on Mirror Lake, enjoying family and friends. It was there that he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Patricia Marie Clarence. After dating for 4 years, he and Pat were married on February 17, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Kenney was drafted in the U.S. Military and he and Pat moved to Augusta, Georgia. It is there they welcomed their first child, Kurt Harris in 1952. In 1953 he was stationed overseas in Korea. Pat and Kurt moved back to Tacoma to live with Kenney's mother. In 1955 Kenney had fulfilled his military service, moved home, became a licensed real estate agent and welcomed their second child, Lisa Marie. As the years passed, Kenney and Pat welcomed three more children; Juliet Louise in 1961, Margo Ellen in 1965 and Matthew John in 1969. While continuing his real estate investing, Kenney worked at Canada Dry bottling company as a Production Manager until the doors closed. In 1967, he and Pat purchased a family home on 18 acres in Lakewood, with 11 rental homes. For seven years, owning and managing the properties was his full-time job. In 1973, he and Pat sold their Lakewood home and moved to N.E. Tacoma. At that time Kenney decided to change careers and attend Bates Technical College. At 47, he began his beloved career at Tacoma Public Utilities where he remained until his retirement in 2008 at age 77. Throughout the years Kenney was involved in many activities. He taught CCD at St. Leo Parish and St. John Bosco, he was a lifetime member of The Tacoma Yacht Club and served as Commodore in 1974. He was an avid member of the Jaguar Drivers & Restorers Club of NorthWest America as well as a docent at America's Car Museum. On Monday, March 20, 2017 at 5:45pm, Kenney peacefully passed away at the family home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Austin and son Kurt. He is survived by his wife Pat, children Karen (Joe), Lisa (Paul), Juliet (Chris), Margo (Jim), and Matt (Denise), nine grandchildren, Kirstan (Dave), Keegan (Aaron), Joshua (Jillian), Jordan (Marlon), Jackson (Riley), Wyatt, Maizey, LeRoy and Ava, as well as nine great-grandchildren Alex, Peter, Nolan, Max, Marlon Jr., Braxton, Blaize, Elon and Rowan. There will be a viewing at 6pm followed by the Rosary at 7pm, Thursday, March 30 at Gaffney Funeral Home. The Catholic funeral mass will be at St. Leo Parish, Saturday, April 1, 2pm.
