Obituary Vera Jensen Born Kathryn Veronica Dahl on January 1, 1920 to Emil and Alice Dahl in Rhame, ND. She died peacefully on January 2, 2014 at home in Tacoma, WA. Vera graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Davenport, IA in 1941. Her nursing career began in Tacoma as an obstetrical nurse. Later she helped pioneer home delivery and natural childbirth education with Dr. Lon Hoover. She also served as an exemplary Director of Nursing Services at Jefferson House Nursing Home until her retirement at age 72. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Lars Jensen; and her eldest daughter, Diane. She is survived by her brother, Bernard Dahl (M'Lis); and her children, Jim, Teres Millar (Danny), Chic, Rob, Margaret Smith (Andy), and M'Lis Aleshire. She was a beloved grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by countless nieces, nephews and dear friends near and far. Vera was a strong woman who instilled in many others the strength to believe in themselves. Her dedication, faith and unrelenting positive outlook inspired those around her to believe that "God is good", as she would often remind us. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 7:00pm at Gaffney Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
