Kathryn May Fox

On the afternoon of September 5, 2022, Kathryn passed away peacefully of natural causes. Kathryn and her beloved husband of 61 years, Bob, raised 7 children, over 40 years in Spanaway, Washington.  Kathryn had been recently living in Cheney, Washington at the Cheney Assisted Living Center at the time of her passing. Kathryn was 88 years old.

Kathryn M. Fox was born in the town of Stuart, in Holt County, Nebraska, on January 12, 1934. She was the 2nd child of Wilfred and Berniece Seger.

Kathryn was a cheerleader with her 5 friends, “The Fab 5”, and enjoyed watching her older brother play sports especially basketball in high school. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1953 and began working as a phone operator in Holt County thereafter. Kathryn met Bob at a dance in the O’Neill Legion Club, after which they fell in love and married on January 6, 1954.

Kathryn was a dedicated wife to Bob and mother of 7 children during their 22 years of service in the United States Air Force. Together they lived in 5 states as well as overseas during their military career. Kathryn & Bob then settled in Spanaway, Washington as military retirement was near. Kathryn went to work at Washington High School as part of the kitchen staff in Tacoma, Washington. She taught CCD at the family’s local church, Our Lady Queen of Heaven, for over 10 years. After retirement, Kathryn and Bob enjoyed opportunities to travel in their motor home visiting family and friends across the country.

Kathryn was a deeply religious, hardworking, and family centered woman who enjoyed spending time with close friends. She was a competitive domino and card player, who enjoyed crossword puzzles when not taking care of her children or grandchildren. Growing up in Nebraska, she always followed her beloved Cornhuskers and rooted for whomever played Oklahoma during the football season. Kathryn was a loving mother and grandparent who was dedicated to helping them whenever she could and enjoyed always taking care of her grandkids. She was a wonderful cook, and her family all enjoyed her corn bread, potato salad, 2 batches of bread pudding (No Raisins for Dad), and, during the holidays, taking home her holiday cookies. Kathryn left us all with so many memories and a love and dedication that can never be matched for her children and their families.
