Kathleen Marie Keeney

November 12, 1945 — December 20, 2024

Brier

Kathleen Marie Keeney took the final step of her 79-year journey to meet her Maker on December 20, 2024.

The first step of that journey was made November 12, 1945, when she was the first born of Joseph Alexander Harkins and Margaret Mary Gaffney in Tacoma.

She was raised in Tacoma, attending St. Patrick’s Grade School and then graduating from Aquinas Academy in 1964.

She was a highly devoted and enthusiastic ZAG fan, attending Gonzaga University in Spokane, graduating with a math degree in 1968. After college she traveled throughout Ireland, returning to work in Sacramento, California, for the telephone company. In 1973 she ended up in Seattle working for Pacific Northwest Bell. That is where she took the next big step in her journey, meeting her future husband, Dave, at a company basketball game. They were married in Bellevue on November 29, 1975, the beginning of a beautiful 49-year marriage that was blessed with five children: Conor, Shannon, Marc, Dave, and Tim.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Margaret, and brother, Timothy Joseph Harkins, who passed away in 2020.

Left to mourn her death, celebrate her life, and live her example are her husband, Dave at home; son Conor and wife Emily, of Anacortes; daughter Shannon DuCharme and husband Neil and their children, Clara, Ethan, and Timmy, of Snohomish; sons Marc and wife Jenny and their children Hannah, Brandon, and Sydney, of Edmonds; Dave and wife Shannon and their daughter Taylor, of Bellingham; and Tim and wife Sabrina and their children Patrick and Miles, of Everett.

Also surviving are six siblings and their families: Tim’s wife Patty Harkins, Bob, Allison, Katie, Paul, and Bridget; Vern & Kathleen Harkins, Ryan, John, and Dan; Mary & Joe Zavaglia, Angela, Erinn, Joe, Amy, and Paul; Joe & Lindsey Harkins, Maddy, Megan, and Alex; Cecilia & Gary Shumate, Kevin, Ellen, Matt, and Mike; Shannon & Scott Greenburg, Scotty, Will, Ian, and Mickey; Kelly & Judy Harkins, Casey, Maggie, and Anna.

In addition to the 9 grandchildren, 27 nieces-nephews, and 46 grand-nieces-nephews are a multitude of friends and acquaintances that she touched in one way or another. She was always either centered around the family or the center of the family in everything she did. And now she proudly sits in the arms of her heavenly Father surrounded by His family.

God Bless You Kathleen.

The funeral Mass for the Dead will be on January 9, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mountlake Terrace. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Chelan, Washington at a later date.
