Kathleen Margaret Hanson

Obituary Kathleen (Kay) M. Hanson passed away peacefully on January 11, 2008, in Tacoma, Washington. She was born on June 3, 1920 to Charles and Margaret Harkins in Seattle, and moved to Eatonville as a young child. Kay married Ingwer Hanson in November 1942 in Tacoma, where they lived and raised their four children. She was preceded in death by her husband and by her brothers Pat and Jim Harkins and her sister Mary Harkins. Kay is survived by her sons Jim Hanson (Jill), Dave Hanson (Kathy), daughters Mary Lou O'Brien (Tim), Margaret Allgood (BJ), and by her brother Chuck Harkins. Kay is the beloved grandmother of Deana Rangel (Rob), Heather Bennett (Forrest), Nick Hanson (Becky), Justin Hanson (Britney), Carrie Good, Ashley Norris (Russell), Jake Hanson (Kassi), Corbin Hanson (Nicole), Megan Allgood, Travis Allgood, and the great-grandmother of Austin Edwards, Katie Rangel, Emma Bennett and Cale Hanson. Kay was active in the churches of Saint Ann and Saint Patrick and their affiliated schools, and in the Altar Society. She will be remembered for her love of sewing and gardening. Kay's greatest joy was the many gatherings with her dear family. We loved her and we will miss her. Her faith, strength and courage were an example for all. The family wishes to thank Annie, Mary and Jeanine of Narrows View Manor for their love and support in caring for Mom. A Vigil will be held Friday, January 18, 2008, 7 p.m,. and a memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 19, 2008, 11 a.m., both at the Church of Saint Patrick, corner of North 12th and J Street, Tacoma. After the reception a graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc., P.O.
