Obituary KAREN CHRISTINE FAKER Our Lord called home His daughter, Karen Christine Faker, on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, five days after her 62nd birthday and after a courageous battle with ALS disease. A lifelong resident of Tacoma, Karen was born on 6/20/46. She was the very beloved Attendance Officer for Bellarmine Preparatory High School until her illness, so much so, that many of the BPHS post graduates visited her regularly for years. Preceded in death by parents Harold & Virginia Heiser, Karen is survived by her husband, Dennis Faker, who, with Karen were previous owners of The Bavarian Restaurant, a Tacoma landmark. Also surviving are Karen's sons, Eric Thaut (Brenda), Brian Thaut (Stephanie) and Eric Faker (Suzanne), grandchildren Andrew, Alexis, and Cole, Sister Judie Lehenbauer (Jerry), brother Jim Heiser (Eliece) and sister Jeanne Warner (Duane), Aunt Barbara Rauscher (Bob) and many loving nieces and nephews. Karen never put her needs ahead of others and dedicated her life to her loving and compassionate care of family, friends and the students at Bellarmine. She took great joy in decorating her home, tending to her flower gardens, entertaining and spending evening hours at the patio fireplace she & Dennis built together. Karen's presence in our lives will live forever in happy memories we have shared, wines we have tasted and miles we have traveled. Catholic Rosary & Eulogies will be said for Karen at Bellarmine's St. Aloysius Chapel, 2300 S. Washington, Tacoma WA, on Monday, 6/30/08 at 7:00 pm, with Funeral Mass scheduled at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 N J Street, Tacoma, WA, on Tuesday, 7/1/08, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.
