Obituary Julian Argel Julian Argel, 59 years old, died on July 8, 2012 at his Seattle home. He was born on September 1, 1952 in Tacoma. He was the Director of Educational Talent Search/TRIO and Assistant to the Vice President, Office of Minority Affairs at the University of Washington. He received his M.A. and B.A. degrees at the University of Washington. He worked in education, social and planning programs for the Puyallup and Muckleshoot Tribes and the Ketchikan Indian Community and Metlakatla Indian Community. He served on a national committee on the development of curricula for Indian education. He was a member of an Alaska Native dance group. He was a parishioner of St. James Cathedral. His parents were Julian and Alyce Argel. He is survived by Eugene Argel of Maui, Hawaii, Julia Ball of Tacoma, Gregory Argel of Portland, Oregon, and Martha Laronal of Tacoma, and by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 21, 2012, 10:00 am at St. Leo Catholic Church at 13th St. and S. Yakima in Tacoma, WA.
