Obituary Josephine Amelia (Jody) Kohler, age 90, died on January 24, 2011 in the loving care of Island View Adult Family Home. She was the first of twelve children born to Dr. Delphin and Ruby Kohler in St. Joseph, Minnesota. She received a degree from the College of St. Benedict and taught high school math and business courses in the Midwest as well as the Maryknoll High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jody also received a master's degree in math from Boston College and another in social work from the University of Washington. She worked as a supervisor for DSHS in Tacoma until her retirement in 1980. Jody was a vital, kind-hearted person bringing love and help to others. For many years she cared for a younger sister in the family home. She served as a mentor and role-model both professionally and within her large extended family. She was dedicated to her faith and was active in political and social causes, contributing to multiple charitable organizations. Jody will be dearly missed by bridge-playing and traveling companions and most especially by her family. Survivors include six siblings: Dr. Del Kohler, Phyllis Favors, Addie Collignon, Dolly Monaghan, Peggy Cowart, and Helen Batie (Robert) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Parrish on Monday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. Contributions can be made to a favorite charity.
