Obituary Joseph Anthony Sipes  Joseph Anthony Sipes was born to James and Sharon Sipes on August 27th, 1961, in Tacoma, Washington. He was the 2nd oldest of five boys, and is survived by all four of his brothers: Jimmy, Danny, Eddie, and Tommy, as well as his mother. Joseph grew up in the Fircrest area and stayed in his hometown when he married his wife and love of his life, Sally, and started a family. Sally also grew up in Fircrest, so the town is a place that was very close to Joe's heart and all of those who knew him. Together, Joe and Sally had three children: Jacob, Joel, and Justine. Joe's family was his pride and joy and the apple of his eye. He was a true family man and raising his children and watching them grow up into successful, thriving adults brought him immense happiness. Joe's home is one that was filled with encouragement, love, and lots of laughter. He supported his kids in all of their endeavors. Joe led a very successful career as a heavy equipment operator (most notably, the blade) working for multiple large construction companies throughout the Northwest. Joe was known for the finish work he completed on roads before they were paved. His hard work, dedication, and attention to detail created the smoothest, most perfect roads we will ever drive on. He created a legacy in the construction industry, and it is one that will live on for many years to come. In March 2013, Joe received a diagnosis that shook his world and all of those dear to him: lung cancer. Although he was given a dire prognosis, Joe fought the battle for over two and a half years. He faced every oncology appointment with a fresh hope, even when those around him feared the worst. He always had a smile on his face, he never complained, and he never forgot to tell his family how much he loved them. Even as he was battling terminal cancer, he was an encouragement and a light to all of those around him. Joe lost the battle with cancer on November 5th, 2015, with his family surrounding him. Although his family mourns his loss deeply, we are all comforted in knowing that he crossed into Heaven from his favorite place: his home. Joe was a man who was marked by integrity, honesty, and generosity. He was a man who loved the Seahawks, his immaculate lawn, his beautiful 1969 Camaro and pristine big red truck. Joe loved boat rides in the Sound with his family in his Bayliner Capri, drives down the waterfront while sipping on Starbucks, and vacations in Seaside, OR with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He loved Oakley sunglasses, Carhartt jeans, and lending a helping hand at any home or yard project. Needless to say, Joe created a legacy that will not be forgotten. There are pieces of him all around us and we still feel his presence in our lives daily. In every one of his daughter Justine's adventures around the world, in every one of his son Joel's passes down the race track, in every one of his son Jacob's successful days at Costco, and in every one of his wife Sally's pretty smiles, he is with us. We love you, Papa Joe, and know you are resting in the arms of Jesus with no more pain and no more suffering. We hope you have a great seat to watch the rest of the Hawks' season. See you soon. Love, Sally, Jacob, Heather, Joel, Megan, Justine, James and the grandkids: Willa, Maxine, Bode, and Ivy.
