Obituary Joseph Norman Shensky was born on January 16, 1925 to Joseph Shensky and Grace Neely Shensky. He lived his life in Tacoma until January 18, 2011 when he left this earth to join his parents. As an only child he acquired many friends along his journey through life. He attended Jefferson, Jason Lee and was a member of Stadium class of "43." After graduation he was drafted into the army where he served with the 42nd Infantry division. After a tour of duty in England, France and Germany he returned to Tacoma. It was at the Knapp's School of Business that he met his future wife, Frances Krilich. They married and began a union which lasted for 59 years. Joe retired as the Director of Pierce County Planning and served as the county hearings examiner. He also served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau. His retirement lasted a short few months when he joined the Town of Fircrest as their Planning Consultant. Joe was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he served in many capacities throughout the years. He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. He enjoyed his friends at Sunday breakfasts and his coffee each day with Fred May. Joe is survived by his wife Frances, his son Joseph Andrew, daughters Carolyn Fletcher, Judith Tune, Theresa Schultz (Erik) and Suzanne Schofield. Granddaughters Kristin Schultz and Kimberly Fletcher, and grandsons Christopher Schofield, Steven Schultz and Phillip Molnes. The family wishes to thank the Tacoma Fire Department Medic Units for their help and Madigan Hospital Trauma Center for their compassion and care of Joe. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11am. A reception will follow in the Church social hall and will be followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery.
