Obituary Joseph Julian Renggli Born January 9, 1913 in Tacoma to Frank & Monica Renggli, he was the third child in a family of four brothers and two sisters. He died on August 14, 2009 at the age of 96. He attended Holy Rosary Grade School in Tacoma, and then started working. As a young man he worked in the mines in Alaska. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged at Ft. Ord in November 15, 1945. He married Marie Albert at Holy Rosary parish in August of 1942. A lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and President of the Visitation parish Men's Club, he remained an active member of Visitation parish until his children were raised and he and Marie moved to St. Pat's parish in north Tacoma, where he ushered at Mass for many years. A member of the Tacoma Elks, he gave many hours of service to this organization. He worked for Buchan's and Orowheat bakeries delivering bread and pastries for many years, and he especially liked his daily route on the Mountain Highway. He & Marie loved to dance and they attended many Swiss picnic. A widower since 1987, he helped many people keep their lawn in top shape once he retired. An affable, gracious man, he delighted many with his stories and positive attitude toward life. He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Murphy of Tacoma and Frances Hansen of Seattle, and by his daughter, Sharon, and his two sons, Gary (Pat) & Albert (Shirley), and by his grandchildren Danielle (Paul), Tim (Pilar), Jeff (Valerie), & Scott (Vanessa), and by his nine great grand-children, Paulina, Whitney, Nathan, Paige, Julian, Cole, Sergio, Hope, & Cruz. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick Parish on Friday, August 21st, 2009 at 11:00 am with his nephew, Fr. John Renggli, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
