Joseph Quentin Betzendorfer Jr.

Tacoma, Washington

Joseph Quentin Betzendorfer, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully at his home in
University Place, Washington on March 21, 2021.

Joe was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1931, the son of Miriam and
Joseph Betzendorfer. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and 7 children, Jeanne
Betzendorfer, Joseph Betzendorfer, Patti Betzendorfer (Steve), Connie FitzGerald
(Kevin), Judy Hansen (Steve), Doreen Dyer, Christine Penrice (David), two stepchildren,
Kim Hunter and Jeff Pollock, 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his youngest son, Ronnie, and his grandson Tyler
Hansen.

Joe served in the United States Army stationed at Fort Ord, California and later
graduated from Gonzaga Law School in 1958. After graduation, Joe worked as an
Assistant City Attorney in Tacoma before joining the law firm of Lee, Krilich and
Anderson. He eventually formed his own firm where he practiced until his
retirement in 1992.

Joe loved to sing. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and
sang with their choir for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the
Gonzaga Glee Club and looked forward to their annual reunions.

Joe was an avid volunteer during his career and after. He was an active board
member serving the West Tacoma Optimist Club, Tacoma Pierce County Humane
Society, the Tacoma Elks Lodge 174, and the American Humane Association of
Denver, Colorado. After retiring, Joe served as a volunteer for over 20 years at
American Lake Veterans Hospital and as a Eucharistic Minister at Toby Jones.


In retirement, Joe and Sharon enjoyed cruising, travel, and golf. Joe was a devout
Catholic. He loved his family, his friends, and the Lord. Joe was always willing to
offer his time and talent to friends and family and loved nothing more than
attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 29th, at Holy Cross
Church, 5510 North 44th St., Tacoma, WA.

Family and friends are welcome however attendance is limited due to COVID 19.
