John Martin Welsh

Obituary John Martin Welsh, son of William (dec.) and Sue Welsh (dec.), brother of Bill Welsh (dec.) and Catherine Cline, died on Father's Day, June 18th after a valiant 15 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. John leaves behind his wife of 47 years Janet, and four children: John Welsh, Jr. (Kelly), Jennifer O'Loughlin (Tom), Jerilynn Mohrbacher (Dan), and Jody DeGroot (Dave). John also said goodbye to eight loving grandchildren: Sara Welsh, Erin, Brien, and Colin O'Loughlin, Kelli and Alison Mohrbacher, and Katy and Ryan DeGroot. John Graduated from Bellarmine Preparatory School in 1954. He served in the United States Army and then worked at local radio stations KTAC and KTNT. He served as a business representative for Teamsters Local 313 and retired from the Washington State Employment Security Department as a public information officer. He was an active and involved member of St. Leo Parish, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a good and valued friend to many. John's life will be celebrated at a vigil at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 26 and a funeral mass on Tuesday, June 27 at 12:10 P.M. Both services will be at St. Leo Catholic Church in Tacoma. Please leave online condolences at www.gaffneyfuneralhome.com .
