Obituary John Scott Obenour, Jr. August 17, 1919 ?" October 7, 2008 John "Obe" passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Obe was born in Detroit, Michigan to Emma and John Obenour. He moved to the Northwest with his family at an early age where he spent the rest of his life. Obe graduated from Stadium High School in 1937. He met and married Helen Olga Cleverley in 1942. He began his undergraduate career at the University of Washington but volunteered to join the Army Air Corp where he served in the Pacific as a Pilot of B-29s. Through his own heroism he was awarded the Silver Star, Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After WWII he attended law School at the University of Washington. His first job after law school was the prosecuting attorney's office in Pierce County. He went on to become the Assistant U.S. Attorney for over 30 years for Western Washington; being appointed by President Eisenhower. One of Obe's many accomplishments was being retired from the Federal Government longer than he worked for it. Obe loved golf, fishing, painting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Jay (Carol) Obenour, Judy (Michael) McNerthney, Janet (Donny) Bullard, Joan (Andy) Neuser; grandchildren: Jack and Chelsey McNerthney, Calli, Trevor, Chris, Corey and Danielle Bullard, Katie, Aimee and Drew Anna Neuser and assorted granddogs and grandcats. A special thanks to Victor and all the staff at Life Care Center of Federal Way who made his last few months a little brighter.
