Obituary JOHN H. GOHRICK John H. Gohrick was born July 20, 1907 on the homestead of Tioga, North Dakota. He died October 7, 2008 at 101 years young in Las Cruces, New Mexico. There were nine children in the family. John went to school in a little country school about two miles from his home. He went to school there for 11 years and when he was a senior he went to the Tioga Public School and paid $20 a month for board and room. During the summer he worked for C.L. Carlson from April until September and made about $400. John and Mary were married in 1934. She was teaching in a consolidated school with two teachers. This school was between Drake and Towner, North Dakota. John and Mary went to teach at a country school in Crosby, North Dakota. They taught for 4 years and in the mean time John got his teaching certificate at Minot State College. In the summer of 1943, he received his BA Degree. He was hired by the Mohall School District teaching social science, physical science, history and biology. He was principal of Mohall School for 24 years. In 1957, he went to Sherwood School District as Superintendent of School. He spent several years as Superintendent before returning to Mohall as High School Principal. He retired in 1970 from teaching. He and Mary moved to Tacoma in 1970. They kept busy managing Brookdale Apts. He was a resident of Point Defiance Village for about 9 years before moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is survived by his brother Morris (99) of Tioga, ND, their 5 children; Jeanne (Harlan Magnson) of Dickenson, ND. Jim (Sharon) of Tacoma, Jerry (Barbara) of Las Cruces, John (Carol) of Las Cruces, Julie (Steve) Huffman of Albuquerque, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 17, 2008 at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Gaffney Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
