John Demanovich

Obituary John J. Demanovich, born April 19, 1911 in Burnett, WA died June 6, 2008 at his home in Tacoma. He had been a Tacoma resident since 1917. John attended St. Leo's and Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma and Centralia High School. John worked for Bufflin's Manufacturing and Lyle Sawmill. He worked as an investigator for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industry and retired in 1976. He was a member and later secretary of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union, a member of the Elks lodge, AMVETS, American Legion and R.P.E.C. He later served as vice president and president of R.P.E.C. for many years. John was a Veteran of WWII; he served in the 41st Tank Division of the National Guard and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He later served on the National War Labor Commission. John is survived by his daughter Linda Glein; son John Dennis Demanovich; sister, Anna Marie Mekem and two grandsons, Daniel and Michael Glein. He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Elizabeth. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Cloisters Chapel with entombment in Calvary Cloisters.
